The West Coast University of Applied Sciences is a modern and innovative university on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein. In the Faculty of Business, the university offers Bachelor's degree courses in Business Administration, Trial Model Business Administration, Real Estate Management, International Tourism Management, Business Law and Business Psychology as well as Master's degree courses in International Tourism Management, Green Energy, Business Psychology and Business, Media & Psychology (part-time online course).

The West Coast University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill the permanent position of

Professorship (W2)
Real Estate Management

in the Faculty of Business and Economics to be filled part-time (50%). Employment will be on the basis of an employment contract under private law with remuneration based on the W2 salary scale. If pedagogical suitability is established, the employment will be made permanent after two years.

Your tasks:

We are looking for a dedicated individual who can build on their own career to represent the subject area of real estate management in research and teaching, primarily in the Real Estate Management degree program. In addition to in-depth knowledge and practical experience in the field of real estate management, relevant practical experience in at least 2 of the following areas is required:

  • Architecture / Civil Engineering
  • Real estate valuation
  • Facility management
  • Digital transformation in the real estate industry

In addition to representing the subject area described above in teaching, applied research and transfer, the responsibilities of the professorship include teaching basic courses in our degree programs. The part-time teaching load is 9 lecture hours (LVS).

What you bring with you:

Requirements for the advertised position are:

  • Relevant professional experience of at least 5 years in a responsible position, including at least 3 years outside the university sector, in which particular achievements were made in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods,
  • a university degree in a subject relevant to the position,
  • special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the good quality of a relevant doctorate,
  • pedagogical and didactic aptitude and ambition to educate our Bachelor's and Master's students with diverse backgrounds,
  • Enjoy imparting knowledge and interacting with students,
  • Ability and willingness
    • to teach in German and English,
    • for application-oriented research and knowledge transfer
    • to interdisciplinary teamwork.

Ideally you have:

  • Publications in the field of real estate management,
  • Experience in the management of externally funded projects,
  • Willingness to actively participate in academic self-administration and in the further development of our Department of Economics in teaching, research and networking with regional cooperation partners,
  • strong teamwork and leadership skills,
  • Willingness to relocate to the region.
